Guest Post | Paige Evans

This is a guest post by Paige Evans. She has been working with us on so many different scrapbooking projects. I asked her to do a wrap-up post about her experience. Over the past 4 years I've had the amazing opportunity to work at over 30 events and scrapbook on-site for Amy Tangerine. From Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Baby Showers to Sweet Sixteens and Wedding Receptions, each party has a fun and unique atmosphere and color scheme/theme with guests that are almost always happy and willing to get their photo taken. Once I have their pictures in hand I glue them onto pre-made layouts which all go into an album that the special guest/s receive at the end of the event to commemorate their party. paige1One of my favorite parts of "working" at these events (I hardly call it work since they're so much fun!) is seeing the other vendors hired to entertain guests. Besides scrapbooking I've seen everything from feathers/jewels clipped in your hair, airbrush/glitter tattoos, jewelry making, cookie decorating, handbag making, video games, DDR, photobooths, a guy who makes an Etch-A-Sketch of you, henna tattoos, dancing (there's ALWAYS dancing!), custom candy concoctions, photo flipbooks, oxygen bars, and so many other things it's just amazing. And there's ALWAYS a candy bar, which, up until recently when I gave up candy, would be my favorite part of the night: when the candy bar was revealed and the kids went crazy filling up their bags!paige2I've traveled near and far and gotten to know this great city of Los Angeles by working at these events. I became familiar with the ritzy parts of town, which, let's be honest, I never would have seen or been to had I not been able to work at these events. And since I have a slight fascination with "Hollywood" and the lifestyle of the rich & the famous, being a part of their fancy club for a few nights while living here was such a dream come true!

I can only hope to return to California some day to once again participate in scrapbooking on-site and help make and preserve memories for guests on their special occasion!

Though I am very sad that she is leaving Los Angeles - not only has she been someone I can totally count on for events and other various projects, I have been inspired by how much of her life she shares via her blog. For instance, she's already written about our farewell lunch at Lemonade. I could always count on her to take photos and give our clients the best possible service. Truly thrilled for her and her family's new adventures in Germany. Thanks Paige!!

the perfect excuse to have ice cream

Brentwood, Ca | Amy Tangerinephotos by Ann-Marie MorrisYesterday I had a meeting to give a client the album she commissioned for her parents' wedding. Instead of having me drive up to meet at her house, we found a mid-way point. I suggested Brentwood Country Mart - specifically Sweet Rose so I could get a scoop of their unbelievable Salted Caramel ice cream. Seriously people, it's one of the best things I have ever had. And I don't allow myself to get a pint to bring home because that would just be dangerous. And because it wouldn't have that special sea salt they sprinkle on top of every scoop if you want it. So while I was enjoying my single scoop of heaven ice cream at 5:30pm (yes, dessert before dinner), she flipped through the album.marj&haroldThe caption below this reveals their last name and details of the wedding. It's really cute because it was actually in Marjorie's parents living room during half-time of a big college football game. How sweet! Not only was it an honor seeing and working with the old photos (all enlargements - mostly 8X10), but it was a pleasure seeing her reaction to the completed album. It was on her to-do list since 2010 and probably on her mother's for over 40 years.

Erika in Wonderland Bat Mitzvah

Last year there was one theme that outnumbered all the rest. Extremely ornate and beautiful, any twist on Alice and Wonderland was a feast for the eyes. One that I had the pleasure of scrapbooking was "Erika in Wonderland". Here are just a few details from the spectacular event. And no LA Photo Party event is complete without a few jumping photos.

wedded bliss

Last year, I posted this photo on Instagram with the caption: Gorgeous venue, excited about scrapbooking this wedding tonight!

It was one of 2 weddings we did during that week. And wow, was it gorgeous. Here are a couple behind the scenes snapshots of our little LA Photo Party corner before the guests (and fun!) arrived.

As thrilled as I was that evening, it's even more delightful to see that Style Me Pretty has featured Colleen and Roger's wedding, which was designed and coordinated by Amber Events and photographed by Callaway Gable.

Handing over the completed album full of delightful photos and hand-written notes, at the end of fantastic events, like this one, is total bliss.

birthdays & bat mitzvahs

For the past few weekends, we've been scrapbooking live at several events, and it's been so fun. We helped celebrate a 6th birthday in total style at Royal T. It was a glitter themed party, full of great activities like temporary tattoos, rhinestone wristbands, bracelet making and hair tinsel that made the party sparkle like no other. Paige and I were in the VIP room with the slideshow playing behind us.

Another fabulous event was for a Bat Mitzvah with a black and yellow theme. Paige got some fabulous bling in her lashes, and here are some photos from the beautiful backyard bash.

We used Instax cameras and supplies from our favorite scrapbook companies like: American Crafts, Hambly, Fiskars, Lawn Fawn, Hero Arts and of course washi tape. Both parties were just amazing and I feel so grateful to be a part of such special events. The next few months are booking up rather quickly, so JC & I decided at the last minute (Wednesday evening) to road trip it down to San Diego for the last free weekend for a while. Happy Friday!
